Dr. Peter Nordland is a graduate of Wilkes University with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biology. Dr. Nordland received his D.M.D. degree at Temple University. He completed a general practice hospital residency at the Gerry Pettis Memorial V.A. Hospital and Loma Linda Medical Center. Later, Dr. Nordland completed his surgical residency at Loma Linda University earning a Masters certificate in Periodontics. He is one of the few Fellows of the prestigious American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.
Dr. Nordland is president and co-founder of the Periodontal Plastic Surgery Study Club. This is an international meeting that started almost 20 years ago in which the leaders of the field share their expertise. Dr. Nordland has a dream to establish this as a new academy in the future. Dr. Nordland has developed this sub-specialty and is considered an expert in the field of Oral Plastic Surgery. Dr. Peter Nordland has introduced many new surgical procedures and has developed his own microsurgical instrumentation. He enjoys teaching and is the director of the Oral Microsurgical Residency Program at the Newport Coast Oral-Facial Institute and is an Associate Professor of Periodontics at Loma Linda University.
Over the past 20 years, Dr. Nordland has presented over 150 professional papers and lectures internationally for esteemed organizations such as the American Dental Association, the International Dental Federation, the The American Academy of Periodontology, the California Dental Association, and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Nordland has authored or co-authored three textbooks, written chapters and several journal publications on Periodontal Plastic Surgery
